London School Bans Slang

In October a school in south London decided to ban slang: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/oct/16/banning-slang-harris-academy-alienate-young-people

Basically, silencing your students is never a good idea, yeah? But you should still know the difference between informal and formal language registers. The British slang terms below, which Americans find very entertaining, shouldn’t find their way into your term papers and presentations:
